May MyROH shine its little light unwaveringly and prove itself to be an enlightened agent of discourse -- one which is "incapable of deceit". The time is indeed now for conscionable, candid discussion on critical issues confronting Malaysians. If MyRoh can spark lively, open debate and critical formation whilst engendering its Christian moral code, it would already have gone where no other Malaysian Christian grouping has. These are profound times for all Malaysians, and today is a profound day in more ways than one, it would seem. I am Catholic and I am proud, humbled and inspired by Bishop Paul Tan's endorsement of this inclusive portal for strategy and action, as demanded of the Christian baptism. 50 years into an independent Malaysia, dare we hope for a spirited, authoritative impetus towards a new baptism for Malaysian Christians?.... New wine for the change of hearts and wills; for more resistance to institutionalised corruption; for fundamental freedoms and equal opportunity; for cooperation over mere tolerance; for common ground over difference; for capacity-building; for the marginalised and the forgotten; for unconditional justice, succour and charity? And ultimately, for meaningful nation-building. Happy Birthday, Malaysia. Happy Birthday, RohMalaysia! May we show ourselves as a people set apart, for whom politics must be at the service of humanity and dignity.
